Medvetenhet i relation till insikt & urskiljning

I publicerade samtal med Karl Pribram (1919- 2015) poängterar Moshe Feldenkrais att ordet awareness omfattar det han vill beskriva och att det är strikt skilt från consciousness.

Awareness in Old English stands for wary, meaning watchful, vigilant, alert ‘in drawing inferences from what one experiences’ försiktig (wary) var, varsam väktare vörda frukta urskillningsförmåga

DET GREKISKA ORDET FÖR AWARENESS ÄR AISTHANOMAI

Aisthanomai, to apprehend (properly, by the senses): perceive höra, lära sig, sinnlig & mental nivå, bli varse (take notice of) have perception of.

Från en intervju med Lotte Perl, gift med Fritz Perl grundaren av gestaltterapin;

"LP: That Greek word for awareness, aisthanomai, 'I am aware', the root for aesthetics, that word is a medium form between active and passive.

ER: In the mystical sense, like the space between breathing in and breathing out. The awareness.

LP: Goldstein, in The Organism, and much earlier, maintains that sensing is an active process; it's not just receiving the impression.

ER: Isn't that the whole point of Gestalt formation?

LP: Exactly, certainly... "

AISTHANOMAI I BIBELÖVERSÄTTNINGAR - PAULUS BREV TILL FILIPPERNA 1:9

And this I pray that thee love of you yet more and more may abound in full knowledge and all perception

And this is my prayer: that your love may abound more and more in knowledge and depth of insight

And this I pray, that your love may abound still more and more in knowledge and all discernment

And it is my prayer that your love may abound more and more, with knowledge and all discernment

Und darum bete ich, daß eure Liebe je mehr und mehr reich werde in allerlei Erkenntnis und Erfahrung

MIDDLE VOICE

Från ett e-post utbyte med kanadensiska feldenkraispedagogen och filosofen Lynette Reid, kunnig i grekiska och som disputerat på Wittgenstein;

“This perception verb (aisthanomai) is a middle deponent, i.e. it only exists in the middle voice. I think other perception verbs (specific, like hearing and seeing) have an active voice as do verbs of knowledge.

§1713. The middle voice shows that the action is performed with special reference to the subject:

§1714. The middle represents the subject as doing something in which he is interested.

§1728. Differences between Active and Middle.--As contrasted with the active, the middle lays stress on the conscious activity, bodily or mental participation, of the agent.

§1731. The middle may denote more vigorous participation on the part of the subject than the active:

If anyone wants a quick explanation, the idea is that in Greek you can make the difference between "I hit Joe" and "I was hit by Joe" (active and passive) just by changing the word "hit" itself, not by adding all those extra words; and then on top of that they have something in between those active and passive forms, another tweak on the verb, called the middle voice, that has a very broad list of connotations. So "I gave Joe my hat" we know, but "I sold Joe my hat" is just a tweak on "gave," the middle voice, that says I gave it to him but I also got something out of the transaction; it had special reference back to myself (i.e. he paid me).

The world is not just black and white, but rather it has all possible shades of grey.

It is easier to understand one another when we are friends, and have established a common meaning of words, than to speak precisely enough to be understood by those who do not wish to be led up the garden path.
