In 1996, a group of Feldenkrais teachers from the Stockholm 1, 2, and 3 trainings published a book in Swedish titled Feldenkrais – Learning to Learn Again. I contributed a chapter in the form of a case history, interwoven with reflections on the Feldenkrais inquiry itself.

The English translation, A Path of Discovery: Lessons with Anna, was edited in 2003 together with Russell Hall, a Feldenkrais teacher practicing in Cleveland, USA. Many of my students have read this chapter and recognize insights and observations from their own learning process.

In connection with an advanced training with Yochanan Rywerant in 1993, my attention was particularly focused on one lesson I was teaching in my studio at the time, which I documented in writing under the title Body or Frame. The woman in question is my mother, Erna Laser (1920–1995).

In this lesson, one of the more elementary principles in the Feldenkrais Method is clearly demonstrated: the clarification and support of skeletal function. The living skeleton allows us to handle the impact of gravity with precision, providing dynamism and independence, and enabling activity beyond mere survival—such as cultural practice and sport.
